It was my birthday one day in class. I was teaching a “Week 2” class which is when learners return to do the remainder of their projects for their course. Only about one-third of learners return for this, the other learners will complete the other projects in their workplace. The learners bought me a cake and it was a very fun day! The reason I like teaching adults is because you can talk to them at their level and you can use their life and career experiences to connect meaning to their learning.

Hi James,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! This looks like a young birthday. When you talk about your Learner, I wonder what you actually teach. How old are your students and what would i for example learn from you?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYes :p 24 years old, so I normally find that I am younger than most of my learners! MY learners are aged anywhere between 18 and 70+ years of age. There's no real target although most seem to be 25-50. I teach the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which is the minimum qualification required in Australia to be a VET teacher. It focuses on three themes - how to design learning, how to deliver training and how to conduct assessment. It's a generic course that equips learners with the basics in practice!
ReplyDeleteHi . I wonder how it is that you are focused on becoming a teacher for adults? you feel absolutely no need to teach young people ?
