Hello All
My name is Nagi Kaldas, I am a teacher at TAFE, NSW, Australia.
Firstly, I would like to apologise for being behind with my involvement in the program. I had work commitments that prevented me from participating earlier.
This photo is for the campus from outside. We share a large area of land with the University of Western Sydney. The college is surrounded by lager open green areas which makes studying here very enjoyable.
I teach accounting and some business units. I have a post graduate degree in accounting from Macquarie University.
Hello Nagi, so exciting to have a blog contributor from Australia! I'm also a teacher at a business school here in Finland. I would like to know more about your school: How many students are there? What degree can they earn from TAFE, NSW? Are most of the students Australian, or do you have a lot of international degree students? //Maria
ReplyDeleteHello Maria
DeleteIt is my pleasure to communicate with you.
Sorry for the late reply. At TAFE we offer degrees starting from certificate III to a bachelor degree. We also offer statement of attainments. Most of the students are Australians or Permanent residents but we also have a large number of international students. Most of international students come from neighbour countries like Japan and China. However, those nationals prefer to continue their study at University.
ReplyDeleteHi. what lovely pictures. I wonder how many students are studying at school?
So I can get a small idea of how large / small area .
Hello Lina
DeleteSorry for the late reply. At OTEN, which is part of TAFE, where I work now, we have about 100,000 students enrolled in different courses including some international students.
Face-to-face teaching at other TAFE colleges has reduced a lot since last year. Some courses were cancelled and sections were merged. Students still have the opportunity to study their preferred courses but they may have to travel few kilometres to reach a college in a another suburb. I am not sure about the number of students a college has but currently I would say less than one thousand students.
Hi Nagi.
ReplyDeleteWhat would be the reason for the diminishing "face-to-face teaching" and are there any other effects than longer travel for the students? /Kim
