In this blog post, I will share an interesting detail from my school and reflect on what I feel is the most exciting part of my work as a teacher. In the photo below, you can see the material shelf that is used for the marketing projects at our school. There are e.g. PostIt-notes, markers, colorful papers, magazines, some games... Inside one of the boxes we have stuff that can be used in the innovation workshops; e.g. art supplies, giant chalks, foil and even a "crystal ball" (it will tell you your fortune if you know the spell!). ;)
As you can guess based on the photos I have posted (now and in the previous posts), we work a lot on practical projects and apply the theories on real-life business cases. However, it's not all just fun and games. The point of all the practical activities is to build a strong connection between theory and practice. Being a university, our teaching is based on academic research, and developing the analytical and strategic skills is a important part of the curriculum. The students work also individually, write reflective papers and study relevant literature. But the most visible - and perhaps most exciting - part is the one shown in the pictures; the innovation that stems from group work and challenging one's old ways of thinking and doing.
This will be my last blog post, but I will still keep reading the blog and commenting on your posts. I wish you all good luck with the rest of your teacher's studies, and of course your own work as teachers!
All the best,
Maria
